A million years ago (or what feels like a million years), there was this thing called NaNoWriMo. And a buuuuunch of my writer friends particiated. For those that don’t know, it’s National Novel Writers Month, in which the challenge is to write every single day for an entire month in hopes of actually finishing that novel they’ve been working on…or procrastinating about…or just putting off for whatever reason.
Well, despite being a writer, I am most certainly NOT a fiction writer. Though sometimes the stories I have from my own life often seem like fiction because DAMN. Only a made-up character would do things that dumb. I digress.
It was fun to watch all my friends power through this challenge and get things accomplished on their projects. But I lamented there wasn’t a similar concept for those of us that are bloggers or non-fiction writers. Until – SURPRISE – there was! NoBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) came around and was typically a November challenge. It was all based on Instagram and the hosts posted daily topics to write about. I did it one year and it was amazing!
And then it all just went away. Haven’t been able to find anything on the interwebs about NaBloPoMo in years.
So I’ma do it my damn self!
February is going to be the month I challenge myself to write every single day. Without the help of Ai, because let’s be so for real. I need to be able to do this without the computer overlords helping me. (But if she can hear me, I love you and please don’t destroy me.)
